The Rutland County Museum sets sail on a journey through sporting history with their new exhibition, The Modern Games, Atlanta 1996 and a Sailing Champion. Running from July 6th to September 28th, this exhibition delves into the world of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, with a special focus on a local hero: John Merricks.

Merricks, a young talent nurtured at the Rutland Water Sailing Club, achieved greatness on the world stage, capturing a prestigious silver medal in the sailing competition. This exhibition commemorates his incredible accomplishment and remembers a life tragically cut short.
