2013 Stamford and Rutland Business Awards, Local Living

I was told today that local business is being asked to nominate themselves for awards.

I wonder why companies are being asked to nominate themselves?

I would think it would be proper for the customer to make the nominations.

I was told a cake shop has nominated themselves in four categories, even though
they have been closed more days than they have been open.

I took a look at the website, they say customers can vote. How? Its not clear

I have e-mailed the event organisers to find out how one can vote.
