A Toast to Our Locals, Alicia Kearns MP Seeks the Best Pubs in Rutland and Stamford
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, is calling on constituents to celebrate the area's social spirit by naming their most-loved local watering hole. Following the popularity of her annual search for the region’s favourite independent shop, she has introduced a special, one-off competition dedicated entirely to the pub industry.
The initiative comes at a critical juncture for the hospitality trade. With rising operational costs and significant financial pressures placing a strain on local businesses, many venues are finding it increasingly difficult to remain open. By hosting these awards, Alicia Kearns hopes to bring much-needed attention to the essential role that pubs play in fostering community connections and acting as hubs for local life.
Describing these establishments as far more than just venues for a drink or a meal, Alicia Kearns noted that they provide the vital "glue" that holds neighborhoods together. She emphasized that the competition is designed not only to boost the profile of these venues but also to encourage residents to show their support during a particularly challenging economic period for publicans across the country.
Voting for the Rutland & Stamford’s Favourite Pub Awards is currently live and will remain open until Friday, 14th August 2026. The winning establishment is scheduled to be announced at the end of August. Constituents wishing to participate and back their favourite local venue can cast their vote via the MP’s official website. www.aliciakearns.com/favourite_pub_awards
