Rutland Conservatives Announce Their Candidate For The Rutland County Council By-Election For Oakham South, Andy Burton. 'The bunkum king'

Rutland Conservatives Announce Their Candidate, For The Rutland County Council  By-Election, For Oakham South, Andy Burton.

It is not Andy Burtons first attempt to gain a seat on the County Council here in Rutland, 2019 he failed to win one of the newly created Barleythorpe seats.

After this failure he settled for being co-opted onto Oakham Town Council in October 2020. after waiting the required 12 months, a new resident requirement.

The Rutland Conservatives have jumped on his desire to help local business via Oakham Town Council, by publishing a copy of their intouch leaflet, that only appears just before a by-elections.

Personally if I was a candidate for County Council and was a member of Oakham Town Council, that shut down and has nothing for residents since the start of the first lockdown, I would keep quiet about that membership.

The same leaflet touches on Andy being a County Councillor for 20 years in another area. He stood down from East Riding of Yorkshire Council at the 2019 Election.

It would be fair to say he was not very popular there, one internet search result included:

'Conservative Councillor Andy Burton – Utter Bunkum'

'The bunkum king'

After reading about Andy I can't help thinking he would have fitted in perfectly at Rutland County Council some year ago or the Oakham Town Council. Former Cllr Stan Stubbs, just to name one is a good comparison.
