Oakham Christmas Tree, Possibly No Official Christmas Light Switch On, Because Cllr Joyce Lucas is a Christian.

Oakham Christmas Tree light switch on has been described as a bit of a disaster.

This week at the town council we have been planning for this Christmas.

A small group met and we were asked if we felt their should be a official switch
on this Christmas?

I thought it should happen, although the event should take place on the same night
as late night Christmas shopping.

Cllr Lucas was against it, I suggested she might like a primary school singing
carols at the same time, she responded "No because I am a Christian"
I know the Christmas tree is not a Christian symbol. but surely her aversion
to the lighting up of the towns Christmas tree is a little extreme even for a Methodist.

I hope we do get a tree properly sorted and switched on this year. A lot
more money is spent on Cllr Lucas tatty flags and bunting.

Cllr Lucas who has been a Councillor for 18 years could hold the key to why the tree
has looked crap for so many years. Christianity?
