Cllr Alan Walters Rutland County Council Meet Your Councillor

Cllr Alan Walters Rutland County Council

Cllr Alan Walters is holding a surgery at Victoria Hall on Saturday 21st
March 2015. His fellow Town Ward Councillors will also
be present.

Cllr Walters has been busy delivering leaflets throughout his ward.
Through his leaflet he mentions an organisation which he has raised concerns
about in the past on Twitter. The Oakham Town Partnership.

Reading his question I assume he now knows who the partnership is?

It is my opinion the partnership is a non democratic club made up
mainly of Rutland County Councillors and Oakham Town Councillors
another Rutland Club that does little for the town.

It may call itself a town partnership in name. As for what it actually
does for the town, compared with other towns it does very little.

It pays a person to organise a late night Christmas shopping evening
each year described by most as crap.

It used to organise a car boot sale.

It stashes away thousands of pounds publicly gained money to hold a part
for a local woman who is on and off travelling single handed around the world.
Basically because the town council is prevent by law from using public
money for this purpose,

Membership appears to be a status thing, especially for the likes
of the Deputy Mayor Cllr Alf Dewis who chairs it along with
many other roles on various committees.

The big issue here in Oakham is so few of the same people run so
many groups.
