I wonder why when in less the week the following announcement has
appeared on Rutland County Councils website:

Conservative Political Group Formed on Rutland County Council

A political group has been formed on Rutland County Council following Local Elections on 7th May 2015 and the start of a new Council administration.

Seventeen Conservative Councillors have announced their intention to form a political group with immediate effect.

Helen Briggs, Chief Executive of Rutland County Council, said: “I can confirm I have received notice from a group of Elected Members, declaring that they wish to form a political group on the Council.

“It should be noted that this is a political decision by one group of Members, whereas all 26 Rutland County Councillors will meet on Monday 1st June to elect a new Chairman, Leader and other key roles for the coming administration. Residents can find full details of exactly who represents their local area on our website.”

The Conservative group consists of 17 Councillors:
