Discover Rutland Day is a fantastic day out for all of the family.  Featuring a live music stage and a popular food festival, Rutland Day is held on the picturesque shores of Rutland Water at Sykes Lane.  Attractions include fairground rides, exhibition stalls, art and craft activities, sports demonstrations and loads more. This annual event attracts approximately 5,000 visitors from across the region.

The live music stage will feature popular bands including Funk Soul Brother, Tin Pigeons and the Rutland Concert Band, plus lots more. Rob Persani of Rutland Radio will be compere so sit back and soak up the waterside atmosphere.

A sports arena will showcase the sports on offer from local clubs. There's something for everyone from family favourites like the sack race to the ‘drop goal challenge’. Head to the water’s edge and see what Rutland Watersports have to offer.  Club members from Rutland Flyfishers will also be present so visit their stand to try your hand at fly fishing.

This year's event is again providing the finishing line for around 70 cyclists completing Anglian Water’s annual charity bike ride in aid of international charity WaterAid. The aim is to beat last year’s record breaking total of over £3,000. Listen out for the big cheer when the riders arrive around lunch time having completed between 70 and 125 miles over two days.

The food and drink festival is an integral part of the event - so come and taste the good life and celebrate what is great about Rutland. Celebrity chef Brian Baker will compere culinary demonstrations on the cookery stage with a host of talented chefs showcasing their signature dishes. There will be a range of foods to purchase including cakes, breads, meats and cheeses and locally brewed beer to enjoy. Make sure you bring your cold box along to carry home some of the delicious food and drink on offer.  One of last year’s food exhibitors Tweeted “Has to be our best show ever. Fantastic venue, big crowds and great music ….”

Popular family attractions planned for the day include fairground rides, exhibition stalls, art and craft activities and loads more. The beach at Sykes Lane opened in 2014 and is a fantastic attraction so don’t forget your bucket and spade. Antony Entwistle, Events and Marketing Manager for Anglian Water, says “This really is a great, fun family day out, and is something we are very proud to host each year. There’s lots to keep the whole family entertained."

Discover Rutland Day will be held on 12 September 10am to 6pm.

Admission is £6 per car (occupants free). For visitors arriving on foot or bicycle £3 per adult; £2 for children; a family of 2 adults and up to 6 children £10.
