Local Councillor Tracy Carr has expressed deep regret over the decision to close Catmose Sports Centre, and has also criticised the behaviour of some councillors following Thursday night's council meeting.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Tracy Carr acknowledged the "amazing staff" at the centre, thanking them for their support during difficult times.  They also offered "sincere apologies" for the behaviour of some councillors after the meeting, stating that "there is NO excuse" and that it "was not down to a lack of government funding."

Tracy Carr expressed empathy for the affected staff, recognising the impact of redundancy on a personal level. They urged residents to be "KIND & supportive" to those who will lose their jobs.

The post goes on to criticise the council's handling of the situation. Tracy Carr stated that while they expected difficult choices as part of the role, "last night could have and should have been handled better."

This public expression of disappointment highlights the strong emotions surrounding the Catmose Sports Centre closure. The councillor's call for better handling of sensitive issues suggests a desire for more compassionate and professional conduct from the council.
