Staff at Oakham Tesco, Dressed For The Festive Season, Photographs

I am not sure who decides what the staff wear, this young assistant was dressed as a fairy in a real short dress decked with fairy lights. Christmas and Pantomime seemed to be the theme. I met a very shy Snow
White, I think she had eaten the apple and been poisoned  by that or picked up a bad  Beech-Nut from the forest floor, she did not want to be  photographed.

This chap has a red nose so he must me Rudolph or he's been in the
chiller for far to long.

I am told Tesco Staff Don't Drink whilst on duty even at Christmas

That reminds me of a story back in the early 80's when people had money
or plastic I worked for one of Tesco's rivals, they were very generous to staff,
Christmas Bonuses, Shares, Christmas lunches and free wine. Well free
wine is not the best thing to give staff if expect them to go back downstairs
and work a checkout. A lot has changed over the last twenty years.
real share holders get the wine now I think.

also back then if there was a power cut the store did not close, the customer
was asked how much do you think you have spent? then they paid that amount.

I chose to work for the rival purely for financial reasons, Tesco was a
closed shop and they used to deduct union subs from wages.

There were quite a few fairies flying around the store today
