Fight the Barleythorpe Mega-Development Langham Barleythorpe Oakham Rutland Oakham Action
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The developers have appealed directly to the government planning inspector. We need to object to stop this, but we have to act fast.
The public consultation for the planning appeal ends Monday, 19th of December.
What can you do?
Ten minutes is all it takes. Go to http://BIT.LY/oakhamobject which links to the planning appeal website. Click on ‘make representation’, fill in your details and leave an objection. Then tell your friends and neighbours to do the same. Spread the word!
What makes a good objection?
The planning inspector doesn’t care whether Oakham can deal with another 1,500 people added to the town (+13%), or the drop in the value of your home. Strong objections will cover key points in your own words:
• Developments of this size should be plan driven. The new local plan is being worked on and this development undermines that process. This site was also evaluated and excluded at an early stage in a previous local plan because it’s poorly situated, separate from Oakham and Barleythorpe
• It will destroy irreplaceable landscape. The old grounds of Barleythorpe Hall. Parkland that provides important views as you enter Oakham
• Traffic impact. The Oakham level crossing will be closed 30 minutes an hour in the future, and there are already long queues. Adding more traffic will be dangerous and prevent people from getting into town and travelling out of Oakham
• Impact on local services. Unfortunately, this is a minor point for the planning inspector, but there will be an impact on health, education, dental, local services, and the community at large
ACT NOW. OBJECT!
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Thank you.
