Mrs Tyers, Former Oakham Mayor Comments about Proms in The Park
Unless you hold a position in our community you risk attack
for criticism.
I am pleased Mrs Tyers has spoken from the Royal Gazebo
some may have noticed the Royal Standard flying from the
Gazebo used by Mrs Tyer and her friends which included the
town clerk.
Each time the Rutland Concert Band perform in Cutts Close
people complain about the volume of the band, not because
its loud. Its a shame.
Today I spoke to a member of the band and they are
aware of audio levels.
Because they were performing for free they could not afford
the hire charge for an amplification system.
On the day those who sat on the left of the bandstand had no
problem hearing, maybe in future people should note
the direction of the wind.
As for the National Anthem the Band felt it was not appropriate
for the Prom Event.
There appears to be a confusion surrounding the purpose of the
event.
Cllr Lucas BEM had originally wanted an event to celebrate
the start of world war one.
The event was held on Armed Forces Day.
The Band understanding was the event was just a prom in the
park raising fund for Help For Heroes, not a commemorative
event.
