Fresh Blooms in Uppingham, Discover the Rare and Unusual with the Hardy Plant Society

Spring is officially on the horizon, and for the green-fingered residents of Rutland, that means it’s time to look beyond the standard garden center fare. This Tuesday, 10 March, the Hardy Plant Society (Rutland Group) is hosting an evening dedicated to the extraordinary, featuring renowned nurseryman Tim Fuller.

Whether you are looking to refresh a tired border or find that one "conversation starter" plant, this meeting at the Uppingham Methodist Church promises plenty of inspiration.

The Main Event, 'New, Rare, and Unusual Perennials'

The guest of honor, Tim Fuller owner of the acclaimed Plantsman’s Preference Nursery near Diss will be guiding attendees through the cutting edge of the perennial world.

The talk won't just be a list of names; Tim will be exploring:

Modern Twists on Old Favorites: Seeing how classic cottage garden staples have been reimagined for 2026.

The Obscure & The Elegant: An introduction to lesser-known species that can add unique texture and color to your garden.

Design & Pairing: Practical advice on "planting combos" to ensure your new acquisitions thrive and look their best.

Bonus for Buyers: Tim will be bringing a selection of plants from his nursery for sale, giving you the chance to take a piece of the lecture home with you.

Date     Tuesday, 10 March 2026

Time     19:30 – 21:00 (7:30 PM start)

Gardening in Rutland can be a rewarding challenge, and the Hardy Plant Society provides a fantastic community for sharing local knowledge. This March meeting is a perfect opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts, ask questions of a professional grower, and perhaps find that elusive plant you didn't even know you were looking for.
