Grantham and Stamford MP Nick Boles condemns explosion at Conservative Hall in Bourne

Planning minister and Grantham and Stamford MP Nick Boles has condemned this morning’s explosion at Conservative Hall in Bourne.

A 24-year-old man has since been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.

Mr Boles, the Grantham and Stamford MP, said he understood a home-made device had been thrown through a window.

"Obviously I deplore this act of violence,” Mr Boles said.
"The incident is being investigated by the police and I know that everyone will do whatever they can to support the investigation.

The explosion happened in the early hours of this morning, causing minor damage to the building.

Police were called at around 1.24am to reports of an explosion at the Grantham and Stamford Conservative Association office in Burghley Street, where Mr Boles holds constituency surgeries.

Nobody was injured, however Burghley Road was closed for several hours.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area, or anyone with any information on the incident is asked to call DI Pete Grayson on the non-emergency 101 number, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
