Have your say on Oakham People, The Closure of Live@museum by Rutland County Council

Have your say on Oakham People, The Closure of Live@museum by Rutland County Council

Last night Rutland County Council killed of the Arts in Rutland

No Cinema, No Theatre

One councillor suggested the loss could be made up by venues like pubs.

Another showing how out of touch with reality claimed Rutland Pubs only hosted
local punk rock bands.

I would be the first to moan if the council was wasting public money.

In the early days live@museum did lose around £16,000 a  year and the council
attempted to hide this.

As the years passed the project lost less and has be enjoyed by a some residents

So this service loss that will save the council a small £20,000 a year seems a pointless
and needless cut.

Maybe now Arts for Rutland will pull together and stop drinking their way throughout the
year sit down and decide a way forward.

I suggest the group get hold of the equipment recently purchased by the tax payer many
thousands of pounds worth and take over Victoria kick the pointless town council out
and run a venue that Rutland deserves, rather like Stamford Arts.

Victoria Hall is held in trust for the people and is used less than 50% of year such a waste
of a resource.

Maybe Rutland County Council will start turning the museum back into attraction worthy
of tourist visits.

A member of Oakham People has started a post which people can comment on.

I hear that the county council are withdrawing funding for the museun events. The excuse used by the deputy leader of RCC is that it is exclusive to Oakham and serves only the town. Nobody in the world ever goes to concerts or the cinema at The Rutland Museum, other than those those that live in the town.

From what I hear he had his head down looking at his papers all through the meeting and, (I suppose he could have nodded off), only came up for air when he thought he'd got the thread of the meeting.

Does he actually think that nobody in Exton (centre of the universe) has ever gone to the museum to see a film or attend a concert?

Wakey, wakey!

Has anybody got any support for the functions at the museum please?
