Helen Briggs Rutland County County Council Chief Executive Has Retired

Helen Briggs Rutland County County Council Chief Executive Has Retired.

After 14 years Helen Briggs tweeted 'Last cabinet done. Keys handed back.
thank you @rutlandcouncil for a fabulous 14 years!'

Helen relocated to Rutland from Doncaster Council in 2006 the same year
I moved to Rutland.

It would be fair to say over the time Rutland County Council has existed
it had some very unique Chief Executives. Some of the previous men could be
described as drunken womanisers. I won't mention the names as that often upsets their
hardened supporters. Helen can not be accused of behaving in the same way.
I would say her time at Rutland County Council has had is many ups and downs.
In The Guardian (18 Sep 2007)  Helen describes the council '"We are lean and mean,"
enthuses chief executive Helen Briggs,' at the time she also said 'While 19 of the 26 councillors
are Conservatives, Briggs finds it hard to detect party allegiances. She says: "I would describe them as members who are passionate about issues, and not political in a party political sense - passionate about doing the right thing for Rutland." Highlighting that for a long time the Conservative
were never true Conservatives most were Independents using the Tory Badge. which was
very fitting for the time as the Conservatives were often described as the mean party back then.
It would be true to say Helen was surrounded by some very mean men a number of Tory Councillors and local police inspectors. None of them behaved like Monks it all a Mystry to many...

There were some happy times, like one of the Royal visits. Helen Briggs in the black jacket meeting
Princes Anne in 2009.

Cllr Adam Lowe and Helen Briggs I often wondered if she ever believed the crap that spews
out of his mouth? This photo suggests to me she did not?
