Inspector Lou Cordiner, Hot Fuzz to the Rescue. New Local Policing Commander for Rutland, Former Commander of the Tactical Dogs and Firearms Unit at Force Headquarters

New Local Policing Commander for Rutland


Insp 4004. Cordiner will become the new Commander of Rutland Local Policing Unit (LPU) from Monday 17 June 2013. She replaces Inspector Kam Mistry, who is moving to Force Headquarters to work in the Call Centre 

Insp 4004. Cordiner joined the Force in 1993. She has served the past four years as the commander of the Tactical Dogs and Firearms Unit at Force Headquarters. From 2007 to 2009 she was a Force Control Room Inspector, commanding the police response to incidents in progress.

Something tells me Inspector Mistry was not a Tory as he was only able to get a tiny mention
from The Rutland Times to announce his promotion to the forces call centre.

Inspector Kam Mistry has announced he is set to leave Rutland Local Policing Unit.

Insp Mistry, who will be replaced by Insp Lou Cordiner when he leaves his position on Monday, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Rutland.”

His predecessor commanded all this after his demotion to Loughborough.

Johnny Monks, 42, first took over the reins as local policing unit commander at Oakham Police Station in February 2009, having chosen to work in Rutland over other areas in Leicestershire.

Since then the number of police on the streets has increased, burglaries are down and farmers have gained invaluable advice on how to prevent thefts on their land.

Johnny said: “Coming to Rutland was the jewel in the policing crown for me. It is a wonderful rural community.

“When I first arrived the number of burglaries in the county each year was in the hundreds. Last year there were 44.

“I’m pleased with what I have achieved.”

Insp Monks, who lives in the Vale of Belvoir with his wife and three children, will finish at Oakham Police Station on September 5 to move to Loughborough and take over as unit commander there.

He says he sees the role as similar to managing Rutland, but on a much larger scale.

He added: “Loughborough is a big town with a university and next year the British and Japanese teams will be based there during the Olympics.

“I would like to take everything I have learned in Rutland and apply it there.”

Insp Monks says he will miss Rutland and intends to keep close links here.

He said: “I will miss the place, but I will also miss the people.

“I have built up good relationships with various people, including county councillors, High Sheriffs as they come and go and the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland Laurence Howard.

“I feel so lucky to have worked here.”

Insp Monks will hand over the reigns to Insp Kamlesh Mistry, who is currently based at Leicestershire Police headquarters in Enderby, Leicester.
