Leicestershire PC Rachael Hughes is accused of sharing confidential police information with members of the public and encouraging dishonesty.

Leicestershire Police Officer Faces Gross Misconduct Hearing

A Leicestershire police constable is set to appear before a gross misconduct hearing on Wednesday, August 28th. PC Rachael Hughes is accused of sharing confidential police information with members of the public and encouraging dishonesty.

According to reports, between February 2020 and February 2021, Hughes disclosed sensitive operational information that she had access to as a result of her role as a police officer. This information was shared without a legitimate policing purpose and allegedly violated laws regarding confidentiality. Additionally, it is claimed that Hughes encouraged a member of the public to engage in dishonest behaviour.

The officer's actions are alleged to have breached the standards of professional behaviour outlined by the police force, including discreditable conduct, confidentiality, orders and instructions, and honesty and integrity. If proven, these breaches are considered gross misconduct.

The hearing, which is expected to last two days, will take place at Leicestershire Police headquarters. The outcome of the hearing could have significant consequences for PC Hughes' career.
