Latest News

Latest Scams – The Mobile phone delivery scam seems to be doing the rounds again. You receive a parcel containing a new mobile phone addressed to you, even though you haven’t ordered one. A short time later another person will come and try to collect it saying it had been delivered to the wrong person/address. At some point later you will receive a notification from a mobile phone company about your new contract followed by a large bill for usage. If you suddenly receive delivery of phones addressed to you or somebody else in your household that you know you have not ordered, contact the sender & Action Fraud immediately for advice.

Beat Updates

Oakham & Barleythorpe - January has been a busy month and we have continued to carry out ad hoc traffic operations. Vehicles have been recovered using devolved DVLA powers as well as seatbelt offences identified which did lead to a drug possession offence. New legislation is coming into force in March where being caught using you mobile phone will end up possibly adding six points to your licence. Thank you. PC Joe Lloyd.

Rutland North – We have continued to work hard this month and have conducted targeted patrols on the North beat but have noted a rise in reports this month to 8. We have only had 4 reports last month and 4 the month before that. We continue to work with local residents and farmers to tackle this on-going issue and respond to any call made. Please call 101 to report any incidents. Thank you. PC Laurie Appleton.

Rutland South - Rutland officers are carrying out targeted patrols in areas previously identified as hare coursing hot spots in Rutland. This issue is on-going and I would appeal to the community to report all sightings of hare coursing on 101 to assist police to tackle this concern. Last month saw continued reports of hare coursing reported to Rutland Police in the areas along the A47 corridor from Tixover to Uppingham, Ketton and Market Overton. Several persons and vehicles were identified as being suspected in taking part in this illegal activity. Thank you. PC Paul le Pla.

Uppingham -  This month we have conducted high visibility patrols along the main arterial routes and inner roads around Uppingham. we have been monitoring speeding and advising drivers re this and general bad parking, blocking pavements and driveways. We have seized one vehicle for having no tax - yes we can now seize vehicle's for having no tax or insurance. Members of the public are checking the DVLA website and reporting offending vehicles to us, so be aware and make sure your vehicle has the correct documentation to be on the road. We will continue with the initiative this month and look forward to seeing you out there and keeping you safe. Thank you. PC Pete Icke.
