The Rutland Times creeping to its major content contributor Oakham Town Council
wrote that Councillors had worked quickly to sort out the mess of the town Christmas
lights.

Early this morning The Deputy Mayor spoke on Rutland Radio and said they would be
sorted this evening.

Using the cross filter on my camera did not really make them look any better,

Dear Sirs

I am writing to you and pointing out the very poor job you do for Oakham.

For many years the Oakham tax payers have lost a lot of money paying
for very poor Christmas lights.

Four years ago I approached Stamford Town Council to find out
who provided their splendid display and the cost.

I was told Lite Ltd at a cost of £16,000

I passed this information onto Oakham Town Council.

Eventually they obtained quotes which included one from you.

Your tender was successful, three years ago Oakham Town Council
spent around £20,000 with you.

The following year around £16,000 to put up and take down the lights. I am told the bill will be the same again this year.

Last year the sub contractors told me they are lucky to receive
£2,000 for putting up and taking down the few lights purchased
by the council. So its not surprising to me they just turn up and
chuck the light on the tree.

What do you do with the remaining £14,000 of tax payers money
can we have it back to buy some more lights?

Also what happened to the small Christmas Tree the town council
purchased from you last year for £500  + electrical costs, for the canopy outside Victoria Hall.

This year there was no pull testing carried out, I find it hard to understand why it now costs around £16,000 for a job that used to cost the council £10,000 and involve a lot more work for the previous contractor.

I would like to suggest you are ripping of the Oakham Tax Payer and they are long due a large refund.

You only have to look at Stamford to see this is the case.

It's amazing what you get when you spend so much?

The Christmas Tree is Fabulous!

Oakham Town Council, Christmas Lights 2013, Lite ltd

Every year Oakham Town Council spend thousand of pounds of public money on possibly the countries
worst Christmas light displays.

Every year the town clerk is congratulated for his hard work, by some thick town councillor.

Finally it has sunk into the Clerks head, the people of Oakham are not happy with the money wasting town councils efforts, it's taken many years?

On Wednesday the town council meet, they will discuss how the display can be improved.

They are going to throw another £17,500 of public money at it again.

It is disappointing Light Ltd failed so much last year and only felt their balls up warranted a £500 refund.

They appear to do a better job for Stamford.
