Matthew Barley Around Britten

SUNDAY 23rd JUNE @ Oakham Castle 7.30pm

Around Britten is an extensive tour of events by cellist Matthew Barley that pays homage to Benjamin Britten’s creativity and innovation, taking his music to a kaleidoscope of venues far and wide around the UK — not just in concert halls — to celebrate Britten’s centenary and to show that his music really is for everyone. This exciting programme will also include works by JS Bach and Gavin Bryars, and music commissioned especially for this tour by James MacMillan, Dai Fujikura and Jan Bang. To accompany the Britten suite, production company Yeast Culture has created a beautiful series of visuals.
