Job Seekers Allowance Sanction, Melton Jobcentre Plus

Job Seekers Allowance Sanction

Today I attended Melton Job Centre and met a advisor 'Caroline' who was quite rude.

She also asked a number of questions

1: why don't you have a Landline?
cost might have something to do about that.

2. Why don't you move from Oakham?
My answer Why Should  I?

3. How many rooms do you have?
Two

4. Why don't you get a lodger?
Answer, because any income I receive for letting a room is
deducted in full and I am not willing to pay for someone to live in
my home. last year I tried that and charged the going rate £70 including bills
and Jobcentre Plus deducted all that from my benefit.

I asked do you have lodgers? advisor Caroline's response I have Children!

5. Why can't you apply for a job in  Leicester?
I don't have money to get to an interview if offered, their has always been an issue with transport and costs.

Advisor Caroline then insulted me by suggesting I should learn to budget. Something I do considerable well on £72 a week.

Advisor Caroline and Amy acting manager says JSA is paid to help claimants to find work, the job centre
can pay for travel over 90 miles but nothing else whatever the cost.

So I assume EON, Anglian Water, Severn Trent Water and others are meant to provide me with free services?

Advisor Caroline slapped a form on the table and said I am sanctioning you. failing to tell me why or how long for.

I asked to see the manager, this was refused and I was asked to leave, I refused the advisor pushed her panic alarm and asked the building caretaker to ask me to leave, my friends from Leicestershire police arrived in large numbers very promptly, they asked me to leave so I moved into the public area of Melton Borough Council.

Before leaving I was told I could write an appeal, MP Alan Duncan's office kindly provided the paper. I then returned to the shared reception and the advisor said you need to explain the reason given for the sanction, I told her I have not been told, I was eventually given two reasons, but we managed to settle on one which I promptly added to the letter.

I was then told if I wait the job centre manager can see me now, although I had not asked. While waiting the caretaker said sorry for earlier, I said no need as he was only doing his job, he told me she is rude. I met the man who claimed to be the manager, I have since found out he is only the assistant, The real manager is off work with broken bones. I hope she is mended soon.

I still don't know how long I will receive no income.

This week I will have to beg from Rutland County Council discretionary fund for food, if I am not entitled to that assistance then I may have to sit outside Tesco with a donation bucket!

I am also told I must continue to sign on at Melton despite the sanction, Who pays the train fare?
