I have sent a message of condolence for the accident  involving the four miners at Gleision Mine from the Town Council and the town's people of Oakham to the Mayor.

There are quite a few people living in our town with Welsh connections.

Appeal from:

Peter Hain
MP for Neath

The deaths of four miners at the Gleision Colliery was the worst mining accident Wales has seen for generations.

This tragedy is a stab through the heart of the community. We can't even imagine what the families are going through.

But they need our help to survive and recover in the future. With the South Wales Branch of the National Union of Mineworks, I've launched an Appeal Fund to help support them and will be announcing other patrons shortly.

Please give what you can to support the families. Donate online now or send cheques to: Swansea Valley Miners Appeal Fund, 39 Windsor Road, Neath, SA11 1NB, United Kingdom.

Thank you.

Peter Hain
MP for Neath
