TSB Bank Granby Street Leicester, New But Old Bank, Photographs

TSB Bank Granby Street Leicester,  New But Old Bank, Photographs

Its a long time since I have seen anyone apart from me using monitors that old. my large screen broke.

I wonder why the bank is using old computer screens. I remember when the TSB was around the first time I was about sixteen they were one of the first banks to use computers. Posting these picture reminded me of how I became a TSB customer many years ago.

At the time Barclays were still using micro film to view daily account balances. I was a customer of Barclays they had ATM's and they were great because they were only updated daily and if they told you inside the branch a few days before pay day you had no money, you just popped outside and withdrew a few pounds there were no big bank charges back then just a letter in the post telling you off. And there were no Wonga outfits ripping people off either.

I must have done it once too many times because one day I withdrew the money and the manager tapped me on the shoulder would you like to pop inside for a chat he said.

Back then banks had real managers and if some one tapped you on the shoulder at a ATM today
you would probably call the police or run.

Anyway he made me pay in the money and close my account!

I had to find another bank, I tried Lloyds I was not posh enough.

So I had to make do with the TSB the bank that liked to say Yes! to anything...

I stayed until they merged with Lloyds and became LloydsTSB.

I can remember how unhappy some Lloyds staff were to be teaming up with
the Tin Soldiers  Bank.

I wonder if any of those staff still remain to see the de-merger? a happy time for them.

I banked with Weatherby's  I have no money now and make do with NatWest
