DSM Demolition Ltd was appointed by Leicester City Council and EC Harris as Principal Contractor to carry out the demolition works of the City Council’s Head Quarters on New Walk, Leicester.
New Walk Centre is at the heart of Leicester and comprises of two tower blocks which were identified for demolition following an inspection of the buildings which recognised structural concerns making them unsafe for occupation.
Following demolition of the buildings, 95% of the material from site will be recycled which will include the salvage and reuse of redundant fixtures and fittings and the reduction of the rubble from the buildings to create hard core, some of which will be utilised to backfill the basement area and underground car parking creating a prepared site for redevelopment.
