On Saturday at 9.15am police were called and told a fight was in progress in College Gardens, Chingford. and the man had a gun.
Armed police swooped to arrest a Tory councillor.
He later appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.
The 50-year-old, of Mount Echo Drive in Chingford, was refused bail.
He has been a Councillor since 08/05/2006
