Oakham - Barleythorpe Boundary Change request Oakham Town Council, My Deputation Rutland County Council 9th February 2015

Oakham - Barleythorpe Boundary Change request Oakham Town Council, My Deputation Rutland County Council 9th February 2015

I will be reading the following deputation at Rutland County Council.

Objecting to Oakham Town Councils attempt to rob the residents who are moving into
the new Hawksmead homes on the edge of Oakham.

The deputation is short, unlike Oakham Town Council, Rutland allows 5 minutes
for each item.

Oakham Town Council is not at all interested in residents views because it only permits
3 minutes in total so if more than one planning application or item effects you is tough.
Its an utter disgrace. Although recently they have given the chairman the discretion to
extend the time even then you are pressured,

Martin Brookes DEPUTATION Item 15
9th February 2015

Thank you for this opportunity for me to share my concerns,  regarding the request you have received from Oakham Town Council to consider a Oakham - Barleythorpe Boundary change.

It is my opinion, Oakham Town Council has raised sent this request based on  pure financial greed.

Oakham Town Council does not provide the existing community any essential services.

The new homes pay for and receive essential services from this council and the management company.

Oakham Town Council, unlike Uppingham has no plans including no local plan. They have not consulted with it's existing residents or the new residents.

The deputy Mayor during a past discussion said “Uppingham will regret it's local plan” Oakham
Town Council currently has no intention of implementing any plan in the near future .

In the past the new homes have been discussed by Oakham Town Council, the Clerk
pointed out to members any income that could be generated would be welcome. Because
the Town Council would not have to provide them any extra services.

More recently whilst discussing something described as a budget, the Mayor raised the
subject of the new homes and the boundary change request. She suggested  the new
residents should contribute, because they might like to benefit from the councils entertainment.
Is Oakham Town Council a Social Club?

I assume by what she said the suggestion is new residents should pay, to bop along with Wrinkle Rock and our Councillors. :-(

So to conclude, please can this council  consider rejecting Oakham Town Councils request
due to it being based purely for financial gain and no intention to serve an extended community.

If Oakham Town Council had a plan for our town and the new community it is attempting to grab,
I would not be objecting here today. Thank you for listening.
