Oakham Town Council Budget 2014 - 2015

Oakham Town Council Budget 2014 - 2015

below is the pointless budget accepted by Oakham Town Councillors, The Clerk is paid a fortune to
produce this pointless document. He now receives help from Councillors.

They just make up the figures based on previous years,

This meant last year saw a surplus under various headings. They are taking money from the
public that they don't require and see that as good thing as they can boost reserves for something
they don't know what yet?

The say this is called A Flexed Budget..

I am not sure how they describe the Clerks continued part time hours. He is meant to be full-time
the office is closed more than he is at work, Oh they don't like me publishing that fact.

Only the other day I was walking to the new Co-op development and the Clerk walked from behind
once again at 3pm, staff at another local supermarket tell me that is the norm.

The council have said in the past because of his position we cant put him on a time clock.

My suggestion is they improve security, put in an alarm system that monitors activity at the
offices and a CCTV system with recording.

The Town Councillor should be protecting public money. I know Cllr Dewis thinks 11k of public money
is chicken feed, I wonder how he describes £40k + for a part time Clerk. sorry full time.

And a telephone system like RCC well a little smaller to monitor unanswered call and all that gossip
because when he is a work he often a permanent fixture in the window when I pass by in the mornings
lately he runs away. There are a lot of budget savings to be made at that office.

Oakham Town Council Budget 2014 - 2015

Oakham Town Council have still not finalised their budget.

Cllrs Stan Stubbs and Rob Guthrie are against any increase of the council precept.

Cllr Alf Dewis would like to see a 1% increase which would not equate to much
for the tax payer.

The Mayor Cllr Adam Lowe said he agreed they should make a small increase
as the town council is likely to take on more responsibilities and be more respected
by the community???

Cllr Lockett and Cllr Dodds would like to see a increase as it would be nice to
bump up the councils reserves.

There were no further details given at the meeting this was blamed on a computer
glitch.
