Oakham Town Council Bunting

Oakham Town Council Bunting

Dear Chairman

As you learn't from the recent Town meeting bunting is a concern for some.

More recently Cllr Joyce Lucas suggested even more is purchased for the town,
she was particularly keen to buy blue and gold.

Blue and gold bunting was purchased not long ago costing hundreds of pounds.

At the weekend I was told it needed replacing because it had not be stored correctly.

Cllr Lucas then said she has quite a bit at her home.

This is not the first time Oakham Town Council has been careless with tax
payers property.

I was wondering if you could find out what other, if any other tax payers property
has been removed from the council store and found its way to Cllr Lucas's home?

Oakham Town Council Bunting, Paul Ford Tree Surgeon, Rotary Christmas Tree and Christmas Lights

Oakham Town Council Bunting, Paul Ford Tree Surgeon

I am often asked why is the bunting up in the town.

I often reply because Cllr Joyce Lucas likes it.

Personally I don't think it has any benefit to the town.

What I do know is every time it is frequently put up and taken down it costs an ever increasing sum of money.

The work is carried out by Paul Ford Tree Surgeons Melton Mowbray who have built up "a good working relationship with the town council they are no longer required to tender for work.

In June they were paid £384.00 to put up the bunting
then in October they were paid £420 to take it down.

Fortunately this company wont be paid £10,000 to put up the Christmas light this years and take them down littering the town with broken glass.

The Council has paid a company £16,000 for new lights and this includes all the services that had previous cost the council £20,000 when putting up the poor old light that continually failed.

The Town Council has also paid the hard up Rotary so they can donate a Christmas tree to the town, the issue of poor decoration has still to be resolved. The Town Council not wanting to offend its friends at the Rotary Club , would not agree to buy and decorate its own tree, why?
