Oakham Town Council Votes To Spend £6,000 on new Mayors Chain of Office Because they don't like the old one.

In these days of difficult times for council spending it is good to see Oakham Town Council has got its priorities in place.

It decided last night it no longer liked the the Mayors current chain valued at £18,000 and that would put away safe and a new one purchased for around £6,000. This is why I enjoy paying my monthly council tax.

The deluded very very unkind (some describe as pure evil) old bat known as Cllr Joyce Lucas BEM said 'it will make the council look modern'

Cllr Adam Lowe pointed out that for the last three years names had not been added to the current chain saving the tax payer hundreds of pounds and could he have the money he had saved.
It is hard to believe this bullying fool got elected as my county councillor.

The actions and comments of those councillors who supported agreed the new purchase show how out of touch with reality and the town this council really is.

A member of the public also quietly made a comment the same as mine it is 2019.

Cllr Joy Clough suggested if the Cllr Lowe found the old chain difficult to wear he could pop it away in a safe place and only bring it out for special occasions and perhaps for meetings the council could obtain a smaller cheaper one could be obtained from Ebay for around £120.

The pointless Michael Haley Strategy point allocated to the agenda item was that the purchase would encourage visitors to come and stay in the town.
I question does that mean the mayor will be visiting all the hotels B&B's in the area wearing the chain so all the new visitors can see the wonderful new chain we are buying?
