Oakham Town Council to give away public land without legal advice to Rutland County Council

This evening Oakham Town Councillors were asked to consider a request from Rutland County
Council, they want Oakham Town Council to transfer a small strip of land over to them.

The Town Council feel the land is worthless and they don't need legal advice before allowing
Rutland County Council to proceed with changing the Title Deed at the Land Registry which they
say is incorrect, well they would because without they strip of land they can not let the converted old toilets
to a new tenant. Because the strip of land runs in front of what is now the main entrance.

Rutland County Council has provided some dodgy plans, I say dodgy because when I asked
for clarification of the location of the piece of land and the Clerk pointed out the plan was so old
the names on it were no longer relevant.

Cllr Lowe started of the agenda item stating if the members felt the land was worthless (no piece of land is worthless) the council would not need to appoint a solicitor.

Before anyone could speak Cllr Haworth jumped from his chair as if some one had shouted free mince pies for all! and made a proposal is his normal sloth like manner "I say we give them what they want and put this to bed now"

(I hope he will take the same careless attitude if Bellway Homes approach him for a small chunk of his garden or drive)

Cllr Lockett quickly vented his disapproval and was quickly shut up, strangely he went onto to second
Haworth's proposal.

Cllr Maureen Dodds rather stupidly said she was very concerned the council might build something
on the land estimated to be about 1 metre x 2 metre.

Cllr Woodcock who probably should have declared some sort of interest because of her involvement
with the castle restoration project said "I am concerned this could interfere with the project, first she stated
it needed some sort of clarification and then finished with something along the lines of just give it to them
becasue we don't wan the castle project effected.

I assume someone like Baines has been visiting Haworth, his proposal was agreed.

Cllr Dodds abstained still unsure if Rutland County Council was to build a housing estate or a supermarket
on the plot.

Cllr Simon Dyer a cautious school teacher also abstained.

Now that Oakham Town Council is in the mood to freely dispose of our land it to Rutland County Council
it will do the same in Princess Avenue and give away the land in front of the neglected garages which
cause many issues for residents in Cllrs Lucas and Haworth's ward, especially now they know they
can't demand lots of cash from Spire Homes as they had always hoped to do.

Sadly last year Rutland County Council put a stop to the Town Council greedy plan to extort a vast sum
of money from Spire Homes by letting them know they owned the garages and not Spire Homes :-)
