Oakham Town Councillor says People who use Wetherspoon's don't have the ability to use their legs another suggests drink driving

Oakham Town Councillor says People who use Wetherspoon's don't have the ability to use their legs another suggests drink driving.

At last night's council meeting Oakham Town Councillors were considering parking proposals
from Rutland County Council. Cllr Vince Howard said People who use Wetherspoon's don't have
the ability use their legs. I guess he is entitled to the opinion people should perhaps walk a bit
more into town and that may in turn ease some of the parking issues. What I find unacceptable
is this council's continued singling out of what they considers to be a lower class of resident.
Before he went away on holiday the same councillor recommended another pub which he claims has a better type of clientele to another councillor. The Lord Nelson in the market place.

Recently I attempted to take a photograph of the pleasant looking pub and was greeted
by what you can see in the photo below. Something I have never experience from
a Wetherspoons customer.

Cllr Michael Haley mumbled "Wetherspoons Customers are more likely
to be legless when  they returned to their cars and drove them away"

There was further inaudible conversation about Wetherspoon's customers,
Inaudible due to the level of noise from the excited few members, until
the Chairman Cllr Adam Lowe interrupted to regain order in the chamber.
I find those Oakham Town Councillors conduct embarrassing and wish to
say I do not hold the same view as those members.

The Council is very two faced when it comes to Wetherspoon's it
was very happy when Wetherspoon's agreed to name the pub
Capt Nowell Newton a person who means nothing to most local
people and they are also happy to accept the hospitality of the
pub when required like the reception to be held there after the
remembrance Sunday parade and wreath laying this November.
If I were Wetherspoons I would tell OTC to go elsewhere.
