Oakham Town Mayor Cllr Jayne Woodcock on Rutland Radio, Royal Visit more than a week on the whole town is still buzzing from the excitement?
When will our local Councillors open their eyes and ears to the real world.
I am not anti the Royal Visit I have spoke to traders who said their taking were up on the day.
Of the part of the town the Royal's did not visit saw little or no change.
Are the Tories going to spin this visit out as a success until the 2015 elections?
The Mayor does not speak for the whole town.
We don't yet know the final cost of this visit, described by the royals as 'carnival like' 'One trader
said I think I prefer circus, most if not all the traders in the market place were not Oakham traders.'
I describe it as a true blue day as most if not all the traders have a connection to the Rutland Tory
Party. One of the reasons I did not photograph the traders stalls on the day.
I am told one of the Tories had only been trading a couple of months.
This weeks cartoon in the Rutland Times is very appropriate.

Some residents might have noticed the clean up went further than a paint job
the Royals were deceived by the local Tories into believing the town is prosperous.
This included the temporary removal of Steven Reid's letting sign on the old post
office and another example is shown above Stead & Simpson shoe shop took
down its very noticeable closing down signs.
