Oakham in Bloom East Midlands in Bloom Judges Comments A Reason Oakham Town Council is Failing The Community

Oakham in Bloom East Midlands in Bloom Judges Comments A Reason Oakham Town Council is Failing The Community

I am constantly attacked for pointing out the obvious, Oakham Town Council and Rutland County Council are neglecting the County Town. Will they now attack the East Midlands in Bloom Judges
for pointing out the same failings?

Litter, Weeds and Shabby street furniture were all noted in The East Midlands In Bloom Judges Report.

I very much doubt the report will be shared with Oakham Town Council.

Our Oakham in Bloom rep Cllr Joyce Lucas BEM is totally blind to what many of us see
when we visit the town centre.

The Judges point out the effect that the poor conditions are likely to have upon tourism.

One of the senior members of Oakham in Blooms committee is also blind to this issue
most likely because he is an employee of Rutland County Council.

Yes Oakham Town Council spend thousands of pounds each year hanging up baskets at
their preferred locations.  Is this not just like employing a shoddy decorator to cover up
the rot?

This year the baskets have been criticised once again. Various comments and concerns.
One being the flower heads which have dropped and stained the pavements.

Oakham in Bloom received a deserved Silver Guilt award the volunteers work extremely
hard.

I am hoping Oakham Town Council will start lobbying Rutland County Council to paint
the street furniture and put more effort into weeding the streets and litter picking.

I am also going to ask Oakham Town Council to include an amount of money in the
budget for funding a Oakham in Bloom project.

The Judges are not fooled by fools who try to trick. They were shown two projects
which Oakham Town Council funded two years ago, When the Mayor was showing the
project in Gaol Street one Judge immediately said I saw this two years ago.
