Draft Minutes, Parks & Planning, Minutes Draft, 27th November 2013, Deputations and Questions

A serious disruption by Mr Martin Brookes.

I always find it interesting how Oakham Town Council
publish my name if they don't like what I have to say to them at meetings, anyone else
is described as a member of the public.

Their easy use of the word serious disruption is a very large and serious exaggeration of the
event.

I raised the issue of homophobic pervert councillor Haworth and as normal his one of his supporters
Cllr Alf Dewis objected, he told me I did not have a right to freedom of speech.

Whilst on the subject of public deputations, Oakham Town Council does not approve of the good councillors guide recommendation that encourages participation from the public.

Last year Cllr Alf Dewis changed standing orders and only permit a total 3 minutes for a member of the public to give a deputation and that is not on each item you might like to raise it's the total time, because they do not want to listen to the public.

Here is my problem, tonight there are three items on the agenda which  I would like to make a
deputation about, one is a planning matter. How can any member of the public raise their
concerns in three minutes on any planning issue? let alone adding anything else that they might be
an issue to them.

The Rotten Borough of Rutland County Council permits five minutes per item.

It also permits questions with a chance to ask a supplementary question
rather generous, when you consider Oakham Town Council does not
permit any questions at meetings and if you do it describes it as serious disruption and
threatens you with the police.

I wonder what the former Mayor and Cllr who in the past has given long deputations
leaning on the table, would make of the new restrictions?
