Remembering those who died in 2014 Celebrities Politicians and Rutland
Here in Rutland we lost councillor Brian Montgomery a founder councillor of Rutland's Independent State.
In a recently published book Engel's England he is quoted as explaining the current state
of Rutland County Council:
'We're saying the system is corrupt'
That corruption continued after his death,
the Rutland Mercury and the Rutland Times newspapers included the following statement in their 'Village News' sections:
"WARD COUNCILLOR Following the death of Brian Montgomery, Jonny Baker has taken over his responsibilities for the interim period before there is an election."
The Rutland & Melton Libdems Complained to the Returning officer Helen Briggs who as usual ignored the complaint.
Mr Baker of the Conservative party was Rutland County Councils prefered candidate fortunately
he lost the election to Sam Asplin Libdem, that will teach the Tories not to count their chickens before they hatch.
There has been far to many tragedies on Rutland's Roads this year.
