Running for a Friend, Fighting for a Cause: Stephen Lambert to Run Yorkshire Marathon in Memory of Jeff Jones and supporting Unreal UK

Running for a Friend, Fighting for a Cause: Stephen Lambert to Run Yorkshire Marathon in Memory of Jeff Jones

Stephen Lambert (Right)

On October 20, 2024, Stephen Lambert will embark on a challenging yet inspiring journey as he takes on the Yorkshire Marathon. His motivation? To honour the memory of his dear friend, Jeff Jones, and raise vital funds for Unreal UK, a charity dedicated to supporting individuals with Depersonalisation-Derealisation Disorder (DPDR).

Jeff, tragically, endured the complexities of two dissociative disorders: Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Depersonalisation-Derealisation Disorder (DPDR).

DID, formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder, is a condition characterised by the presence of multiple distinct identities or personalities within an individual. This can lead to memory gaps, confusion about identity, and a profound sense of detachment from oneself.

DPDR, a less widely understood condition, involves feelings of detachment from one's own body or mind (depersonalisation) and a sense of unreality or detachment from the world around (derealisation). These experiences can be deeply unsettling and significantly impact a person’s quality of life.

Unreal UK is a beacon of hope for those affected by DPDR. As the sole charity in the UK focused on this condition, they provide invaluable resources, support groups, and advocacy to help individuals navigate the challenges of DPDR.

By running the Yorkshire Marathon, Stephen aims to raise awareness of DPDR and generate funds to support Unreal UK’s essential work.

Your donation can make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by DPDR.

By supporting Stephen, you're not just contributing to a physical feat but also to a cause that offers hope and support to countless individuals.

Let’s come together to honour Jeff’s memory and empower those living with DPDR.
