This reminds me of the time Rutland County Council caused students and parents stress
when Tresham closed Rutland's only college a short notice.
The loss of Catmose Sports, has caused so many residents stress. Not just the 900 members,
many people of different ages who are referred due to health issues. The working parents who use the
school holiday camps, who cant find anyone child care provision her in Rutland.
Some of the residents were very upset, some were even in tears as they were spoken to by the cabinet members of Rutland County Council. (Council Leader, Lucy Stephenson, Cllr Karen Payne
Cllr Rosemary Powell, Cllr Marc Oxley, Cllr David Wilby, Cllr Samantha Harvey.)
I sensed members of the council, did not know what vast spectrum of services Catmose Sports provides for the residents of Rutland.
We were told £50,000 was spent on the procurement process to find a new operator. Money given to
Welland Partnership, an organisation that has let Rutland County Council down before. I personally think Rutland County Council often fails because it contracts out nearly all of its work to other councils. That is probably why we have to pay the highest council tax in the land for nearly nothing.
