Rutland County Council Refuse Application from RES Woolfox Wind Farm Video

Rutland County Council Refuse Application from RES Woolfox Wind Farm Video

A special Development Control & Licensing Committee Rutland County Museum
Thursday 10th December 2015  RES  Woolfox Wind Farm Application

Video to follow:

The committee rejected RES application

Cllr Edward Baines chaired the meeting he thinks you have to
eat the microphone making it difficult to follow what he was
saying.

When it came to his turn to have his say on this application
he wanted people to know Rutland County Council was not
against renewable energy.

It's a difficult case because on hand we need renewable energy
and on the hand these wind farms look terrible ugly the main reason
for objections.

The Tories were clearly supporting Tory local opinion on this
matter. The first question came a person against the wind farm
a good old friend of the RCC Tories a former high sheriff of Rutland.

There was little comment or debate from members of the committee.
Cllr Marc Oxley voted against the rejection.

The committee meeting was in my opinion pure theatre and
those present knew it. I overheard campaigners talking about
future funding raising to campaign against the RES appeal even
before Councillors had entered the meeting.

Something else I overheard which amused me was a discussion
about wind and fundraising by the campaign group. It was too
windy for them to hold their latest fundraiser outside so they
held it in a garage. Proving there is no shortage of wind in the
area.

During one of the deputations for the application wind farms
were compared to windmills and how no one complained
about them. If only RES could design something just as attractive.
I wonder if there were protests when the first windmills were
built.

ITV News Central came to town

Rutland Radio conducted interviews after the meeting
