Local Crime Alert 

Since the last Neighbourhood watch brief we have had one report of criminal damage to a vehicle in Tixover Grange. Unknown persons have used an unknown implement to scratch all four panels on the passenger side of the vehicle. This incident occurred between 01/12/2016 19:30 & 02/12/2016 07:40

One report of criminal damage to an unoccupied dwelling in Ostlers Drive, Barleythorpe. Two doors have been damaged, no further details.  This incident occurred between 15/11/2016 16:14 & 08/12/2016 09:14.

One report of criminal damage to a non-dwelling in Bowling Green Lane, Market Overton.  A shed has been damaged by fire resulting in smoke damage and several items inside melting. This incident occurred between 02/12/2016 13:00 & 08/12/2016 17:00.

One report of criminal damage to a vehicle in Avocet Close, Essendine. Vehicle set alight by unknown persons. This incident occurred between 10/12/2016 00:05 & 10/12/2016 00:10.

One report of burglary to 2 x secured non-dwellings in Tyne Road, Oakham. Unknown persons broke into two sheds and removed three adult mountain bikes. This incident occurred between 09/12/2016 13:00 & 10/12/2016 12:15.

• The ’s’ on the end of 'http' is another essential indicator that a site is secure for making transactions.
• If you’re buying tickets, always buy from official sources and never pay by direct transfer
• If you’re buying a holiday online, research it thoroughly to ensure that is a genuine offer and check to make sure it is registered with ABTA and ATOL.
• Secure Wi-Fi is vital for your privacy. Check that the network you’re using is secure before you make any financial transactions.
• Always ensure that your keep your anti-virus software, operating systems and other security measures up-to-date on your electronic devices.

Latest Scams - You will be used to warnings on not responding to suspicious emails from banks, but in a new twist, some Lloyds Bank Customers have received very authentic looking personalised letters regarding suspicious activity on accounts and requesting the recipient to make contact via telephone. An automated message is played before callers are asked to enter account details in to the keypad. Eventually the call will pass to an adviser where further information is cleverly gleaned.
