Shorelink Rutland County Council's Tourist Bus Service ceased due to lack of passenger usage.

Shorelink Rutland County Council's Tourist Bus Service ceased due to lack
of passenger usage.

The tourist bus service was launched in July 2013 funded by central
government.

The service was launched by Norman Baker MP the launch event
took place outside the co-operative funeral directors.
Most Rutland County Councillors our MP and Mayor all attended.

The service was not welcomed by many villages a large bus
passing through villages with small roads and parish councils
not consulted about the location of new bus stops.

During the first year the bus appeared to carry invisible passengers
and Rutland County Council gave us some extraordinary high usage
figures. This intern secured further funding from central government.

The shiny new buses were seen on other routes throughout
the Centre Bus Network. I assume they get to keep these buses now.

It would be interesting to know how much these buses have
contributed to pollution as they drove around mostly empty
through the villages of Rutland.

Rutland County Council say:

Shore Link (service 44) is cancelled with effect from 01/09/15.

This is now ceased due to lack of passenger usage.
