Short Film Wren Boys Filmed in Rutland at Former Ashwell Prison Nominated At BAFTAs

the short film ‘Wren Boys’ has been nominated for Best British Short at the BAFTAs.

Directed by Harry Lighton, produced by Sorcha Bacon and Try Hard Films and with cinematography from Nick Morris, 'Wren Boys' tells the story of a Catholic priest from Cork who drives his nephew to prison on the day after Christmas.

The BAFTA nomination crystallizes a string of successes for this highly-acclaimed short. Winner of the London Calling Short Film Jury Prize, the film has also picked up nominations for Best Short Film at the 2017 London Film Festival and British Independent Film Awards.

Later this month, ‘Wren Boys' will be heading stateside where it’s being screened as part of the Official Selection for the Sundance Film Festival.

'Wren Boy's has been nominated alongside fellow short films 'Work', 'A Drowning Man', 'Cowboy Dave' and 'Aamir'. Winners will be announced on Sunday 18th February at the annual ceremony and will be broadcast on BBC One.
