There has been a lot of unhappy comments from people who live and work in Mill Street Oakham.
I get changing Mill Street to one way traffic could make
the road safer for pedestrians. What I don't get is
these changes were meant to widen the pedestrian area.
The barriers should be taken away.
If people are queuing to enter the larder coffee shop
you can't get past and to make it worse BT contractors are
fitting new fibre cable to all the properties and for most of today
they had removed the cover outside the former Eden premises
erected their own safety barriers around the hole effectively
closing the footpath. The photo above was take early this morning
before the business's opened the shop on the right serves all its customers
outside the shop blocking the narrow pavement.
The Florist could not accept her deliveries at the door and had to use
her children to carry the delivery from the top of the road.
I have noticed some drivers are blind, I saw one lady
was waiting at the traffic lights opposite these signs
and she did not see them and stopped rather quickly and
went straight into reverse nearly hitting the van behind her
I am often worried about the ability of some of the older
drivers on our roads, you only have to see that when
they often hit parked cars in the supermarket car park
and just walk off to the shop.
I sort of get the market place accept for the loss
of very well used parking places.
I am told the hotel, cafe and pub will be able
to put out tables for customers, I hope the county
council let Kavanaghs put out the tables.
Headway Charity shop moving out

shops are not re-opening.
