St Andrew's Church, Soham: A Closed Door to History
St Andrew's Church in Soham, Cambridgeshire, is a magnificent example of medieval architecture, boasting intricate carvings and a rich history. Unfortunately, my recent attempt to explore this historic gem was met with disappointment.
Due to concerns about anti-social behaviour from local schoolchildren, the Parish Council has made the decision to keep the church closed during the school holidays. While I understand the need to protect the building and its contents, it's undeniably disheartening for visitors like myself who are eager to appreciate the church's architectural and historical significance.
It's a shame that the actions of a few can restrict access to such a valuable cultural asset. Hopefully, a solution can be found that balances the need for security with the desire to share this beautiful building with the community and tourists alike.
