Student police officer, Dismissed for Unauthorised Absence and Dishonesty in Leicestershire

Officer Dismissed for Unauthorised Absence and Dishonesty in Leicestershire

A former police constable with Leicestershire Police would have been fired, had she not resigned, after an accelerated gross misconduct hearing found her guilty of several offenses.

Between October 31st, 2022, and December 12th, 2022, the officer was absent from work without permission or justifiable reason. Despite her prolonged absence, she never requested any form of leave.

The hearing further revealed that the officer acted dishonestly when questioned about her absence and shirking of police duties.

Ultimately, the investigation concluded that the officer violated multiple professional standards: honesty and integrity, duties and responsibilities, and discreditable conduct.

Chief Constable Rob Nixon stated, "It's evident the officer understood her work obligation and did not obtain proper authorization for her absence. She also had ample time to seek clarification if unsure. Her actions and conduct significantly fail to meet public and police expectations, jeopardising public trust in our service. Therefore, immediate dismissal would have been the only acceptable outcome, had she remained employed."

To protect the well-being of individuals involved, the Chief Constable requested the officer's anonymity and instructed against disclosing her name in any publications.
