Tickets are still available for the 2013 Rutland NSPCC Carol Concert on Monday, December 2.

Rutland Times and Mercury incorrectly stated in their newspapers this week that the concert was a sell-out and they apologise for that.

Tickets are available and people are urged to order them as soon as possible, because they do sell-out very quickly.

The concert at All Saints Parish Church in Oakham is incredibly popular and really gets the Christmas feeling going in the Rutland community.

Since its launch seven years ago, the annual NSPCC Carol Concert has become so well–loved that for many Rutlanders, it marks the real start to the festive season.

With Christmas bells ringing out over Rutland, the audience are immediately drawn into the magical atmosphere of the evening as they are greeted with mulled wine and mince pies on entering All Saints Church.

To the festive sounds of carols from the highly-acclaimed Foresters Brass they can then settle down amid the twinkling lights of Christmas trees and flickering candles in anticipation of being moved from laughter to tears, listening to wondrous tales of Christmas from our finest literature, recounted by our talented readers including Lars Tharp (BBC Antiques Roadshow), Nigel Colborn (BBC Gardeners World/RHS Judge), Rosemary Conley (Diet and Fitness expert), Anne Davies (BBC East Midlands Today), Peter Wheeler (Leicester Tigers), Tim Hart (Hambleton Hall/Bakery) and David Farrer QC with sublime music from the Harborough Singers. A true evening of Christmas delights!

This prestigious county occasion, in the presence of the Lord Lieutenant and the High Sheriff, has become the largest single fundraising event for the NSPCC in the East Midlands region. More than £15,000 was raised from last year’s concert alone, principally from local businesses through sponsorship or advertising, all of which has benefited local projects for abused children in the region, whilst raising the profile of the work of the NSPCC in Rutland in it’s mission of ending cruelty to children.

Please come and support this fantastic evening of fundraising for a very worthy cause, early application is advisable for the 400 tickets (£12 each) available from The Baker’s Yard, 6 Church Street, Oakham, 01572 755484; Don Paddy’s Wine Bar, 8 Market Place, Uppingham 01572 822255; and Margaret Wheeler 01572 813626.

Doors open at 6.45pm. Please be seated by 7.20pm.
