Oh well, RIAT 2001 has passed now and Rutland's hosting of the event has ceased.
Please reply with your views and comments on the event as a whole. Did it live up to expectations? Are you glad it's over or will you miss it not being here next year?
Tony.

I think RIAT can only have been good for Rutland. I brought alot of visitors into the village, which once a year I think is good.
My view is that any disruption, for staging such a worldwide event is worthwhile, and we will lose out by not staging the show next year.
What it does show is the counties ability to stage large events, and hopefully we can attract more for the future.

Not seen him, but I liked the detail in the Rutland Times telling you how to recognise that you had a vulture in your back garden.

yes, it's a disgrace, but it is Langham you know and there's a long history of pervy and criminal goings on in that place. I often think that Neanderthals didn't all die out, they just moved to Langham

That's a silly thing to say. Some people don't know anything about Rutland.

Perhaps I should make myself clear. I am at that stage in life when youth has been left behind and middleaged is what most people would call me. By now it is apparent to all that I have no discernable talent whatsoever apart from one for irritating the majority of people I meet. However, I bitterly resent any imputation that that is why I can only earn 10K a year when the average male earnings are double that nationally, and considerably higher for this area. If the truth be known I am the victim of a conspiracy of freemasons and the old school tie brigade, who no doubt are doing the jobs and earning the money I am rightfully entitled to. The fact that these people went to the same school as me has nothing to do with it, no more than the fact that I am a complete t****. So there! Now do you understand Baboon?

I can understand the reason for that. Wouldn't it be a shame if dereliction set in along the retail premises along the High St. From knowing many of the traders in Oakham, it is a very tough environment to stay in business. Have you ever noticed that a majority of new retail businesses set up in Oakham close after six months?

I believe very strongly that wherever you are living in the United Kingdom or even Europe as a whole, if you leave school at sixteen then dead-end factory jobs are all you can look forward to. If that doesn't suit your expectations then get back in education RIGHT NOW.
