Gloucestershire Constabulary, Police England and Wales Police and Crime Commissioner elections, 2012
Gloucestershire Constabulary
Victoria Atkins, a lawyer, is the Conservative candidate. As a leading criminal prosecutor, I have been closely involved in dealing with some of the difficult issues that the police see each day. This means that I understand law and order issues, I lead teams of police officers in fighting crime and I speak up for the decent, law-abiding majority.
Rupi Dhanda, a lawyer, is the Labour candidate. I will champion ‘Restorative Justice’ projects. If you break it – you fix it.
Retired Superintendent Martin Surl is standing as an independent I am standing as an Independent because I believe party politics has no place in policing.
Alistair Cameron, former leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, is the Liberal Democrat candidate. I have served on both Cheltenham Borough Council (including as Leader) and Gloucestershire County Council and work as a Clerk to the Governing Body at Millbrook Academy in Brockworth. I am also a voluntary English teacher for adults.
