Victoria Hall Oakham Should Return National Lottery Grant, Heritage Bid Rutland County Council

Victoria Hall Oakham Should Return National Lottery Grant

Last month Victoria Hall were celebrating a lottery grant.

The grant was awarded so they could pay for some new rather pointless sliding doors.

They have now according to Cllr Maureen Dodds in a report given to Oakham Town Council
decided they don't want to install the doors.

The committee is asking the National Lottery in typical Oakham Rutland fashion can we spend the
grant on some thing else.

I think the money should be sent back and used by a real good cause. Victoria Hall is not a community hall
it is to expensive for most community groups to use.

I am not sure how they even managed to obtain the grant in the first place.

I wonder if Rutland County Council wrote a supporting letter?

The same council is attempting to claim 4 million from the lottery and is sending some one down to the town council to tell them how they should write their letter of support for the Councils bid. prior the next planning and parks committee meeting  Although the council agreed to write a letter to support that bid.

The Clerk reported the following:

Representatives from Rutland County Council will be coming to talk to members about the Heritage bid prior to the next meeting of the planning and parks committee. This is an important project and the role of the Town Council is likely to be significant, As members are aware, has already been agreed that a letter will be written in support of the project, However, the contents of this will be discussed at the presentation.

i am guessing that will be the extent of the Town Councils involvement, a  letter and possibly a booze up celebration invite if the grant is awarded.
