Voluntary Action Rutland (VAR) continues to cement its vital role in the heart of the community, championing local support services and enhancing accessibility for residents across the county. For over two decades, VAR operated its primary community hub from Lands' End Way. In April 1999, The Princess Royal officially opened a new volunteer centre. this was then sold in December 2022 it changed operations to focus heavily on essential outreach, rural transport, and targeted community aid.
Establishing a visible, accessible presence on Oakham’s bustling High Street where collaborative spaces like the Citizens Advice Rutland community hub also serve local groupsensures that residents can easily connect with vital guidance, find volunteering opportunities, and access support networks.
Their aim is to make advice and charity navigation straightforward for elderly or vulnerable residents.
